I activated POP3 access for my webmail account, but I can't download old messages. Can you tell me why?

E-mail accounts that are originally created as web-based e-mail accounts will not be able to download old webmail messages to a POP3 e-mail application after activating POP3 access. This is because messages are identified as being able to be downloaded through POP3.  If a message is received before enabling the POP3 service, then the message will not be so identified and is unable to be downloaded.  However, listed below is a common work around for this problem.

  • Forward E-Mail Messages received before enabling POP3 Access:
Forward existing e-mail messages to your e-mail account. Your POP3 e-mail application will download the new forwarded message. (Note: All forwarded messages will appear to come from the the forwarding account.)
