Sometimes when I'm trying to send an e-mail message through Outlook, I get a 550 Invalid Recipient Error. How come?

When sending a message from a POP3 desktop e-mail application (e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc.), your may receive an error as shown below:

Here's how to 'fix' it:

  1. Check your e-mail account properties and verify that "My outgoing server requires authentication" is checked and that "Use same settings as incoming mail server" is also selected. You must have this setting checked when you are using the LoadMail POP3 services.
  2. Another common problem that will cause you to receive this error is that the connectivity provider may have blocked ports your have currently selected.  Here's a quick link that will help you make sure that your POP3 account is setup correctly:  Verify Port Settings for Sending with POP3
NOTE:  Switching to Port 80 may cause problems if there is a proxy server in place.
