We get asked all the time, "How do you manage junk-mail in your INBOX?"
In all honesty, we never get any junk-mail...okay, we're lying.
. But seriously, the most commonly-used method for managing junk-mail is to use the Webmail system as the first line of defense. What do we mean? Well, next time you have to download your e-mail and you're agonizing over how long it will take Outlook -- or other desktop mail application -- to actually retrieve your e-mail off the server, try this instead:
- Login to your Webmail site using your e-mail address. (Note: If you can't remember, you can always go to http://webmail.loadmail.com/)
- Make sure your Webmail Junk-Mail Filters are set to Append the phrase "[SPAM]" at the beginning of the Subject line and leave the message in my Inbox.
- Any incoming mail that appears to be SPAM-related will be tagged in the Subject line. (Note: Only messages arriving after your filters are set will be tagged.)
- Click the "checkbox" to select ALL Messages in the Inbox.
- Uncheck the messages you want to keep.
- Use the Move-To Drop Down Menu to move all "checked" message to your Trash Can.
- Repeat as necessary to clean out your Inbox.
Once you've done this a couple of times, you'll see how easy the Webmail system makes it to identify message you want to keep and get rid of junk-mail quickly and easily.
