One of the great things I truly love about LoadDNS is Query Tracking. Naturally, we check out our competitors on a regular to get an idea of what their current pricing is, what new services they are offering, and to simply do an apples-to-apples comparison. Surprisingly, what we've found is most of our competitors in the DNS market have no idea what their customer query counts are, nor are they in a position to provide any relevant statistics to the customer. Now, my immediate reaction is, "Wow, I'd go out of my way and totally take advantage of these companies if I was a user." However, my second reaction is also, "I wonder if these guys are running their DNS out of their garage."
So, here are some questions you should ask yourself before choosing a Hosted DNS Provider:
- Can this provider deliver consistent and reliable DNS Query Statistics?
- How long has this provider been offering DNS services?
- How many geographic regions does this provider service?
- How easy is it to manage my DNS records if I'm not a DNS expert?
In reality, most businesses do not truly know the importance of DNS and the role it plays in online success and choose to use the default DNS server provided with their domain name registration. If you're serious about your online identity and your ability to reach your customers anywhere, anytime, then do your research and understand what you're getting with your DNS host.
